EMBARK conference supports NZ businesses in reducing emissions

Brought to you by the Sustainable Business Council together with the Climate Leaders Coalition, EECA, Ministry for the Environment, and WWF New Zealand, the aim of EMBARK is to provide attendees with the building blocks of a great low emission transition plan, and to connect them with people who can help them turn their plan into a reality.

The conference will be held at SKYCITY Auckland on July 24 and is designed to help businesses learn practical ways to reduce their emissions. It will see those already on a low emissions journey share what they have learnt to help others with their own progress.

The morning’s sessions will see speakers from the Climate Leaders Coalition, including Air New Zealand, NZ Post, Westpac, Z Energy, The Warehouse Group, SKYCITY, Ports of Auckland, Meridian, and Fonterra talk about what they have done to reduce their emissions. They will also share practical tips to empower businesses to draw up their transition plans, measure their carbon footprints, set an emissions reduction target and finance it.

The afternoon’s facilitated sessions will give businesses the opportunity to meet some of the providers of low emissions products and services who can help them make it happen. This includes consultancies, manufacturers of technologies and other solution providers. They’ll also benefit from hearing from businesses about what’s challenging about transitioning so they can figure out ways to help.

Representatives from other sectors are welcome, including government and community and interest groups who want to hear what businesses are doing to tackle climate change. Some will have a role to play to remove barriers, while others are part of the larger conversation about climate action in New Zealand.
