Auckland Council seeks public input for future of city

Imagine if the entire populations of Tauranga and Palmerston North moved to Auckland tomorrow. Where would they live? What would be the effect on traffic, housing, the environment and our quality of life? How would we deal with so much change?

These are some of the issues Auckland is dealing with right now.

Since 2010, Auckland has grown by 218,000 people. In 30 years there will be another 720,000 people living here.

Managing this growth requires planning, long-term thinking and investment.

Auckland Council can’t do this alone. We want your views on the future of our city and what we should be working towards over the next 30 years.

From 28 February to 28 March, we’re consulting on our 10-year Budget, as well as the draft Auckland Plan 2050. We also want to know what you think about our Pest Management Plan and our Waste Management and Minimisation Plan.

Transport and the environment are some of the big issues we want to hear your thoughts on. With your help and feedback, we can make Auckland a world-class city – now and in the future.

In person

We’re holding events across Auckland throughout March. They’re your chance to come along and talk to council staff, elected representatives and other Aucklanders about the future of our city. Schedules will be published as soon as they are confirmed.

Consultation documents and feedback forms are available online and at libraries, local board offices and service centres across the region.
