Changes to the building consent Application Form – Auckland Council

Auckland Council has made changes in relation to the quality of information provided with a building consent and performance standards of specified systems.

This includes the Code Compliance Certificate (CCC) process and the need for council to obtain information about performance standards for specified systems that hadn’t been requested in the past.

Further to this process change, we have now made enhancements to our online Application Forms:

Changes to the building consent Application Form – Handbook

Where a building consent application nominates the addition or alteration of any specified systems, it’s important that the designer nominates the performance standards the specified systems are intended to meet.

Going forward, our online form will now request that this information be completed for each applicable specified system either installed or altered as part of the building consent.

The change is due to the need for performance standards information to be listed with the building consent when it is issued and on either the new or amended compliance schedule for your building.

Linked below are the relevant documents which can help assist with collation of the required information:

  1. AC1831 – Guidance on what is a performance standard
  2. AC2130– Commercial Application for building consent
  3. AC1129– List of specified systems contained within a building consent

The Compliance Schedule handbook issued by MBIE also proves guidance on this matter, click the button below to access the handbook.

Changes to the Code Compliance Certificate (CCC) Application Form

Where an applicant applies for a Code Compliance Certificate (CCC), we need to validate that the performance standards and inspection maintenance and reporting procedures of the systems installed or altered are captured correctly, to enable us to issue an accurate Compliance Schedule with your CCC.

Our online form will now request this information be completed for each applicable specified system installed or altered as part of the building consent process.

Providing this information will benefit all customers, as we will be able to assess and validate this information much faster and enable a quicker turnaround on applications.

The following documents on our website can help provide further technical information on this topic:

  1. AC2150– The application form for the customers to make changes to the performance standard information
  2. AC1831– Guidance on what is a performance standard
