Hundreds of Kiwi businesses get online to ‘SafePlus it’
The SafePlus online tool is only 10 weeks young, but all sorts of Kiwi businesses have been quick to try it.
SafePlus enables businesses to self-assess how they’re doing in health and safety, and get free advice and guidance on how to improve.
Since launching on 6 September, over 750 organisations have signed up to use the tool.
Small businesses are leading the way, making up half of all sign-ups so far, followed by medium (27% of sign-ups) and large businesses (23%) tracking neck-and-neck. By industry, construction (18%) and manufacturing (13%) are the biggest users, with the combined agriculture, forestry and fishing sector fifth (8%). Some 370 assessments have been completed so far or are in progress, with another 500 in draft (set up but not started yet).
The online tool’s launch was supported with an eight-week online advertising campaign and a range of presentations, including the Health and Safety Association of New Zealand conference, ACC’s South Island business seminars series and a PeopleSafe interview with Jennie Gianotti, Manager Education Development, Guidance & Education Development, that’s had over 30,000 views to date.
“This is a great start and we’ll be looking to build on it through further advertising and promotion over the coming months” says Jennie.
