Placemakers ‘New Apprentice Club’ celebrates two years of success

PlaceMakers  launched the new apprentice club (PAC)  two years ago this March aimed at giving better support to a growing force of building and construction apprentices through their path to qualifications.

“We aim to be there from start to finish, supporting apprentices all the way,” says PlaceMakers General Manager Bruce McEwen. “They are the future of the construction industry and we recognise that, so we want to back them.”

PlaceMakers have been supporting apprentices since 2013 through a scholarship scheme in association with the BCITO, but the recipients each year were limited.

The club is all about giving better support to even more young building and construction apprentices, whether they’re just starting out, in the middle of their apprenticeship, or about to graduate.

WHAT PAC HAS TO OFFER

Crew members will get access to a range of perks; like discounts and special offers, educational and networking opportunities, competitions, industry news and much more. The ‘Graduate Toolbox’ provides great resources for qualifying apprentices who eventually want to start their own business, as well as ongoing discounts when shopping at PlaceMakers; and more.

WHO CAN JOIN PAC?

Building and construction apprentices (at any stage of their qualification), from the BCITO or any other New Zealand industry training organization (ITO’s) may join. Membership is free.

WHAT ABOUT THE OLD SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME?

The old PlaceMakers scholarship scheme in association with the BCITO (PASS) falls away, however current BCITO scholarship recipients will not be affected, i.e. PlaceMakers will continue to pay the training fees as agreed.  Furthermore, current BCITO scholarship recipients can also join PAC.
